Als ich diese Stimme zum ersten Mal hörte, blieb ich stehen. Auf dem Heimweg von der Schule. Auf dem Spielfeld unserer Mittelschule und in der Buchhandlung vor dem Bahnhof. Und dann auf dem leeren Grundstück, wo die weiße Katze schlief. Shiina Yuki, das seltsame Mädchen, das irgendwie alles über mich wusste, kam immer so auf mich zu.
Wir lachten, weinten, wurden wütend, hielten uns an den Händen. Immer wieder wiederholten wir diese verschwindenden Erinnerungen und vergänglichen Versprechen. Deshalb habe ich es nie gewusst. Ich wusste nie, welchen Wert Yukis Lächeln hatte oder welche Bedeutung ihre Tränen hatten. Noch nicht einmal das einzigartige Gefühl hinter ihren vielen „Schön, Sie kennenzulernen“.
